Frequently Asked Questions
1. What kind of experience do the members of Angelica Strings have performing for special events?
The members of Angelica Strings are all experienced professional musicians who have the combined experience of playing for more than a thousand weddings, corporate functions, and special events. Each musician is a career professional, dedicated to providing outstanding customer service as well as a flawless performance for your event.
2. Can I request a piece that may not be listed on the website?
Yes. Our website playlist includes many popular ceremony and reception favorites, but is not comprehensive. We have an enormous music library compiled from years of performances; chances are that we have any music for which you are looking, even if you don't see it listed. If there is a particular selection that we don't have that you want played at your special event, we will do our best to locate your request and will play it at a nominal fee, based on the price of the sheet music and an arranging fee, if necessary.
3. How early will Angelica Strings arrive prior to the start of an event?
Depending on the number of guests you are expecting, we customarily begin playing prelude music 15 minutes prior to your start time. More time can be requested if necessary. The coordinating musician will arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your start time to set up, consult with your officiant and planner, and answer any last-minute questions.
4. What attire will Angelica Strings wear when playing at an event?
In consideration of the importance of your event, Angelica Strings will wear coordinated all-black formal attire and/or tuxedos.
5. How many musicians are in Angelica Strings?
The number of musicians you choose to have for your event could range from one solo violinist or cellist to a five piece string quintet for ultimate fullness. Furthermore, substitutions or the addition of other instruments (a flute, harp or trumpet for example) is possible depending on your needs and preferences. For any large formal event, the classical string quartet is the perfect accompaniment with its full, rich, sonorous ambiance. For smaller functions and a more intimate ambiance, a trio, or even a duo, may be the perfect choice.
6. I want someone to sing a special song at my wedding-can you accompany them?
Angelica Strings is happy to accompany your singer as an ensemble. A rehearsal with the singer, beginning 30 minutes before the musicians start time, is strongly recommended. We feel that it is very important for the musicians to become acquainted with the singer before the ceremony begins. There will be an additional fee for this extra time.
7. Will a musician attend my wedding rehearsal?
The members of Angelica Strings have many years experience playing weddings and it is not necessary to have them attend your rehearsal. However, if you prefer, and if scheduling can be accommodated, a musician can attend your rehearsal (with instrument) for an additional fee.
8. I don't know much about classical music-how will I know what music to select?
Angelica Strings members have extensive wedding and special event experience. In our consultations, we can guide you and recommend selections based on the timing details of your wedding, your musical taste, and the ambiance that you want to create for your guests. We are happy to choose all the selections for you, to let you choose every piece, or anywhere in between.
9. How much does Angelica Strings charge per hour?
All prices are quoted on an individual basis, reflecting all consultation fees and a base hourly rate per musician; additional costs may include travel fee, extra rehearsal time with a soloist, and arranging fees.
10. What kind of deposit is required?
Your deposit of 20% is due with the return of your contract. The balance is due one week before your event, when we contact you to finalize the details of your ceremony selections.
